CSF COMP PLUEY TAKES 4TH PRO, 2ND OPEN

 O side set up
The CSF Family Pro-Am Lights Up Oceanside Pier
Under sunny December skies with light winds the Christian Surfing Federation set up shop this past weekend on the South side of the Oceanside Pier.

Billed a "Family Fest" it did not disappoint as there were surf divisions for all levels and ages- from top pros to mini-groms.

On the beach between heats kids, along with the help of some dads, tarps and suds, constructed an epic boogie board slip 'n slide- designed for launching huge airs. Happy to report no injuries, a bunch of wacky rides and lots o' laughs were had by all. After the slip 'n slide groms were seen playing dodgeball and riding those impossibly fun but massive Hamboard skateboards throughout the pier zone- not at the same time, of course.

Nate Wells, youth Pastor at Las Flores Church in Carlsbad delivered a Christmas message, while Steve Harmon of Grace Chapel played beautiful worship music that filled the coastal area with warmth.

The action in the water-

The guys in the Pro Division put on a clinic on ripping chest high surf, helping inspire the other competitors to see what was possible.

In the Pro Final was Paul Pugliesi, Austin Ware, J.D. Lewis and Christian Saenz.

It was a tight affair throughout the 20 minute heat- as each pro had managed two mid level scores. However with time getting tight and needing a score J.D. Lewis found a solid left hander allowing him to unleash a series of vertical jams that earned him a 9 point ride and a slim victory over second place finisher Austin Ware. Taking Third was Christian Saenz and fourth Paul Pugliesi.

So many great moments throughout the day in each division- check the results below and all the photos at www.yourideitishootit.com

Many Thanks to all our sponsors, participants and most of all- our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for another great day at the beach.

CSF Family Surf Fest Scores Solid Surf at HB

Nov. 10th, 2011
PRESS RELEASE

Under sunny skies with clean shoulder to head high-plus waves, the CSF Family Surf Fest kicked of it's season series Saturday at Huntington Beach CA.

The idea behind the CSF Family Fest Series is to have a great beach day- in and out of the surf. To that ends, a huge game of beach dodge ball broke out that had entire families gunning for gold. HB grom Gus Hamborg worked up quite a sweat before his heat and took honors as the LGS- Last Grom Standing.

The action in the surf did not disappoint either as there was a division for everyone- from parent child push-in to highly competitive Pro-Am Division.

Pro Division Finalist Chris Waring was stoked to catch his home break firing, sharing "this is one of the best days I've surfed here at 9th street in forever- the waves are solid, a great day for a contest."

Contest chief John Lindsley was over the moon at the stellar crowd that participated and added, "we are thrilled to have so many families join us for a great day at the beach- surfing, connecting, sharing stories. It's about more than winning a trophy for probably 90% of the surfing population."

The crew from Christian Surfers HB, Mckenna VW and La Casa Del Camino provided music and delicious Mexican food for all and the outpouring of swag from the sponsors was amazing.

Many Thanks to all the sponsors, participants, families, volunteers and the City Of Huntington Beach for making it happen.

The Biggest shout out to God, who blessed us with a amazing day full of fun surf and community fun.

WSA Gatorade Surf Tour Stop#3 Pismo Beach Ca

What can i say ,I love stop #3 Pismo Beach Quaint little Beach town,Friendly people and u never know what the surf and weather will be like.

I was super excited when i realized on Monday i would be in Pismo on Friday.i had packed extra early i was that excited.
Friday rolled around and i couldn't  get up fast enough to start the 4 1/2 drive from Oceanside. We woke up to cloudy ugly weather not fun.But i knew it was suppose to be sunny in Pismo.Got on the rd at 9 and made there in record time and of course it was 85 and beautiful, wish i could of said the same for the surf it was a small 2-3 ft but amazingly beautiful clear water but it looked cold. We booked into the good old Motel 6 yee ha.Met up with some of my Buddies,Isareal,Stephen,Vincent and a few others .I also was stoked that my other half Shawna came up for the comp we always have an amazing time.
We went down town for a nice quiet dinner with friends and to check out the small town.
I was in bed by 11 since i new i had to get up early.
6am rolls around and its but ass  cold and foggy,We head down to the pier and cant see a thing with the fog. They postponed it for a half hr and boy that fog cleared up fast.
I had a debate booties or no booties?I asked everyone who came in how the water temp was and they all said it was perfect.

Waves were 2-3 still and a little disappointing but i wasnt going to let that bring me down.
I paddle out in my 1st heat and got a bunch of fun little waves got the scores i needed oh and the water was nice warmer than Oceanside.Got out got my scores i won that heat.
And the weather was amazing
I surfed a few more heats and made it to the finals in the Open and masters.I was amping to make the finals again.i was 1st in masters and 6th in the open so i knew i needed to do well.
I went out in both finals feeling pretty confident even though the waves went from ok to bad ,just super small an inconsistent.
i did what i could and in the end.I got 4th in the Masters and just extended my lead  so that was good.
Open mens i pulled a 2nd and that jumped me up to 2nd so i was happy.I will take over the lead with the next event Mission Beach Nov 12.
All in all it was a great event .Had a blast hungout with great friends ,made some new ones and just a perfect weekend.
Now the next event is NOV12 Mission Beach hope to see u there.
Thanks to the WSA and all my Sponsors u Rock

WSA Gatorade SurfTour Stop #2 Ventura Ca ,

Happy Tuesday  Everyone
Just got back from an amazing little getaway to good old Ventura,Left Friday for the 2nd stop of the WSA Gatorade Surf Tour  www.surfwsa.org.
We headed up with clear skies knowing there would be some surf which is always a good thing.Arrived Friday afternoon and got to the hotel and relaxed for a little while before going to the contest site to check heats and waves and low  an behold  there was super fun waves.Got my heat times and headed to downtown for some fun the rest of the night,There are a few really good restaurants so we ate a great meal went and checked out the cool shops met some great people and had an amazing  night before heading back  to the hotel for the night.

Woke up at 7 am sat got ready and headed to the contest ,arrived super amped and ready to win :). Waves were 2-4 and super clean sun was blazing already .I knew it was going to be a great day.Saw all the boys chatted about the comp and what we had been up  to in the month and a half break we had.
Time to check in for my 1st heat i was so ready and focused,Horn buzzed i paddled  out got my 1st wave and scored a 7.5 out of 10 and caught a bunch more good waves and ripped the hell out of the them ,finished that heat and they announced Paul with the heat win.I surfed 6 other heats and won everyone of them by a good margin.I was so amped and so focused,i could tell all the training i have been doing was really paying off.
3:15 and it was time for the final.I grabbed my jersey and was getting ready to paddle out for  the final its a little hard when most of the guys are ur good buddies but i got my head in the game to win and not worry about them,
I started off with an okay wave scored a 4 not good.waited for a good set wave paddled hard and got it did some nice linking outside turns and a last good tail slide  to get an 8 .Now i just needed another decent score waited out the back for 1 more set wave with 3 Min's to go,The other guys all got some great  waves but i wanted that 1 good wave.a set was approaching and i let the 1st 2 waves go .I paddled for the last wave of the set and got a 6.5 and after that i knew i had won the final.
I was still a little nervous as they announced the results but when i heard i had won a sense of relief and excitement had come over me and i knew it was back to back wins.after that we went and celebrated down town that night before heading back to the hotel for the night.
Left Sunday morning to head back .It was a great weekend. Thanks to all my sponsors for the support and keeping me looking so good at all the events.
Next one is Oct 22-23 in Pismo Beach.
