Comps oh yea

Been a long few months .A few comps have gone on there was one in HB Feb 18 and 19  waves were pretty small but i managed  to nab another 1st in the Masters getting me back into the lead for a back to back Westcoast title and possible a back to back USA title.also managed a 2nd in the open havent really been on my game lately but im working on it.

March 3rd the day after my Bday we headed up to Salt Creek where we were disappointed  once again by even smaller surf 1 ft and talk about trying to get a decent score but tat least is was 80 and sunny so you really cant complain .I got another 1st in masters making it a back to back win yee ha .But had another disappointing open mens final getting 4th .But it was still a decent result.

Also did the Volcom event in seaside in Feb getting a solid 7th place finish 1 wave separated me from a show in the final not bad waves were a decent 3-4 ft .tons of people showed up for that so it was good. Gotta love the volcom events never know what will happen.

And last we had the Arnette  comp at Seaside the day after and lets just say i didnt do well at all hahahah. But did manage to get some sick shots from Paula and Rick  my good friends/family  and personal photographers love u guys   www.gothchaphoto123.com  .

Ride a Flavorful Wave with Surfsnack

By Phoenix Coverley | WDSD Reporter
If you crave an energy bar that is actually flavorful, instead of something that resembles an old piece of cardboard, I recommend Surfsnack. Made in Cardiff by Jill and Daniel Wheeler, Surfsnack is one of the few energy bars that contains no artificial colors or sweeteners. Instead, the bars are packed with protein in the form of organic oats and a blend of nut butters.
I’ll admit, I tend to be skeptical when it comes to energy bars. Most of them make me feel bogged down rather than revved up. In fact, some contain so many additives and preservatives that the package recommends washing a bar down with eight cups of water. When I exercise, I don’t want to waste my H20 digesting a bar, I want to save it for hydration. After trying the three bars featured at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters last Saturday morning, I was pleasantly surprised by the fresh flavors of this San Diego-based energy treat.
At first, I was drawn to the Chocolate Barrels Espresso. Who doesn’t love coffee and chocolate? The espresso in the bar comes from Bird Rock coffee, so I know it’s free trade. But more importantly, if you’ve ever been to Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, you know the espresso gives a serious boost! This Surfsnack did not disappoint. With a consistency more like a breakfast oat cookie than one of those over-processed, chewy sticks of ‘bar,’ just half of the Chocolate Barrels Espresso bar had me zinging along for the rest of the hour.
I took home samples of the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Power Carve and Coconut Almond Pineapple Express to share with friends, fellow swimmers and surfers. Amid happy gasps of “Oh!” and “That’s tasty!”, the bars were an overall hit. The coconut almond snack was a particular favorite, since the island flavors of coconut and pineapple seem the perfect complement to low-rise/ slow-release sweeteners like dates, palm nectar and agave sugar. Of course, for peanut butter lovers, there is no substitute. Those folks who can’t get enough peanut butter and chocolate will like the Wheeler’s Power Carve bar. Finally, there’s an energy bar that’s rich in flavor, chewy and fresh and the best part is, it’s made right here in San Diego County!
To get your hands on a box of Surfsnacks, contact Jill and Daniel Wheeler at P.O. Box 953 Cardiff, CA 92007 or info@surfsnack.net for more information go to www.surfsnack.net

CSF COMP PLUEY TAKES 4TH PRO, 2ND OPEN

 O side set up
The CSF Family Pro-Am Lights Up Oceanside Pier
Under sunny December skies with light winds the Christian Surfing Federation set up shop this past weekend on the South side of the Oceanside Pier.

Billed a "Family Fest" it did not disappoint as there were surf divisions for all levels and ages- from top pros to mini-groms.

On the beach between heats kids, along with the help of some dads, tarps and suds, constructed an epic boogie board slip 'n slide- designed for launching huge airs. Happy to report no injuries, a bunch of wacky rides and lots o' laughs were had by all. After the slip 'n slide groms were seen playing dodgeball and riding those impossibly fun but massive Hamboard skateboards throughout the pier zone- not at the same time, of course.

Nate Wells, youth Pastor at Las Flores Church in Carlsbad delivered a Christmas message, while Steve Harmon of Grace Chapel played beautiful worship music that filled the coastal area with warmth.

The action in the water-

The guys in the Pro Division put on a clinic on ripping chest high surf, helping inspire the other competitors to see what was possible.

In the Pro Final was Paul Pugliesi, Austin Ware, J.D. Lewis and Christian Saenz.

It was a tight affair throughout the 20 minute heat- as each pro had managed two mid level scores. However with time getting tight and needing a score J.D. Lewis found a solid left hander allowing him to unleash a series of vertical jams that earned him a 9 point ride and a slim victory over second place finisher Austin Ware. Taking Third was Christian Saenz and fourth Paul Pugliesi.

So many great moments throughout the day in each division- check the results below and all the photos at www.yourideitishootit.com

Many Thanks to all our sponsors, participants and most of all- our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for another great day at the beach.
